AMPLIFYING VOICES, SHARING STORIES, DRIVING CHANGE

 

Liverpool photographer Zak Grant and I collaborated on this project throughout 2020, though its origins stretch back much further. Zak had long envisioned a platform to share the lived experiences of Liverpool’s Black community, and I was honoured to contribute by shaping its visual identity.

 

Through intimate interviews and powerful photography, Zak documented personal stories of racism, resilience, and overcoming adversity. My goal was to design an identity that would be stark, direct, and urgent—one that ensured the voices behind these stories remained the focal point.

 

I developed a black-and-yellow colour scheme, chosen to evoke immediacy and awareness, while the use of simple Helvetica typography ensured the words spoke for themselves, free from distraction.
