Kula Yoga Studio
Hello Yogi's and Yogini's
Happy Early Holidays! I know it's early but it's a good time to look forward and be insightful about your view into the season. With some good attention, planning and reflection, this season could be all about delight and beauty. Move forward without being mindful and you may very well have some fun but you might also suffer many consequences. This is just like the practice we do on the yoga matt. We use the energy of our muscles to bring stability to our postures, and extension in an organic fashion to help give us length and expression to our yoga postures. Done mindfully and with reflection, these two elements can be brought to balance and allow our posture practice to be filled with comforting stability and playful expression, done without attention and we can find ourselves frustrated with our own body and un-enthused.
We practice balance in our stabilizing energies and our creative energies while we are on our yoga mats. This area of our yoga matt is a microcosm of the rest of our days. If we can cultivate the balance then we can delight in comfort and creativity. When we can't seem to find this off the mat, come back to your safe place of practice, play and experimentation t and regain your position and insight to your own life. This is an awesome time of year, a time of celebration and a time to come together. Delight in your practice off the mat and we'll see you on the mat at the studio.
Shanti,
Adam Ballenger
Lots to do in November!
For Beginners/Intermediates and All, Therapeutic and Restorative Practice, November 21st, 1PM to 3:15PM, with Adam Ballenger, by Donation (suggested, around $15)
This is a great practice for all. We will be doing a number of familiar yoga postures, but we'll be cutting out most of the chaturangas (push-ups), vinyasa's and power moves and concentrating on letting the breath and body find natural and restorative posture that helps to promote vibrant pulsation and healing. You'll love this practice.
Thanksgiving Day, Burn the Bird (Crazy Bird Celebrating Yoga Practice), 9:30 AM to about 11:15! It's the day to be thankful and what better way than to start with your yoga practice and at a place with all your yogi friends. Come on down and escape the kitchen for a little while, your in-laws won't even miss you.
Anusara Yoga Advanced Practice with Adam Ballenger, Saturday November 28th, 1PM to 4PM'ish and Post Thanksgiving Pot-luck after. Let's get it (our practice) on so we can work it off. Be ready to take it to a new level in a fun loving atmosphere!! by Donation (suggested, around $15)
Clothing and Toy Drive,
We are collecting nice clothes and toys that you would like to donate this holiday season. We'll be collecting them till about the second week in December and then donating them to the most needy centers around Salt Lake. Just bring them in and we'll take care of the rest.
News:
Karma Yoga Pass. This is a new class pass at Kula. We are responding to a number of things around the community and country by adding a yoga pass that is Pay What You Can. You can purchase a single class at a time or five at a time and simply tell the person at the desk that you would like a Karma Yoga Pass and then tell them how much you are paying. It's that simple. If you know someone who has stopped coming to class or stopped practicing or simply hasn't started practicing because of stress in the pocket book, please invite them along and tell them about the pass. Good Karma from Kula, please Pass On Some Good Karma.
Class Expiration Periods. We have also extended our class pass expiration periods. Not including the monthly unlimited passes, all other passes are now, either four or six months for expiration periods. Everything less than ten classes has a four month expiration period and everything ten and over has a six month expiration period. We hope this helps you decide which pass is best for you and put your mind at ease when deciding on how many you can use in the given time period.
The new classes with the new teachers are going great. If you haven’t tried Hope's Monday evening 5:40 level 1 class, it's just about the best way to start the week and Brooke's Wednesday 5:40 level 1 continues to get awesome reviews. Don't forget about one of the best Sunday classes in town at 9AM with Hope, Monday's 9:15AM with Jami or Noon with Natalie. What an awesome selection and if you haven’t tried them, my offer still stands. Try one and if you don't enjoy them as much as I do, I'll credit you a class back on your account.
See you soon!!
