At Kula we regularly run special series or short workshop sessions, two to eight weeks long and sometimes as short as a one weekend intensive. These are well presented programs to help all sorts of groups, especially beginners though, get a better start in yoga. The topics range from basic tips for alignment to chakras, home practice and more. You don't have to sign up for these but they are great and affordable options if you are new to yoga or looking to freshen up your yoga practice. Some of these are for a set price and some of these are by donation. Your donations are most appreciated, they really help the instructor and the studio out and help us continue to offer such great programs. If the cost of any of these programs is out of your budget contact Adam@KulaStudio.com to see if something can be worked out.

Kula has two yoga rooms, both with environmentally friendly design and finishes. You might enjoy a spacious event in the large room or a cozy group event in the smaller room, either way, you'll rarely find yourself lacking teacher wisdom, attention or space.

The Instructors. Kula Yoga Studio has a strong foundation in Anusara yoga, a style of yoga that embraces the goodness of the heart as an intrinsic quality in every person, in every posture, in every breath, no matter how intense the class or how gentle and basic the class. At this time, Kula Yoga Studio has the only two certified Anusara teachers in the valley and runs the only Anusara Yoga Immersion and Teacher Program in the state, recognized both by Anusara and Yoga Alliance. If you've taken an Anusara Inspired or Style class by an instructor in the valley most likely they've studied at Kula or with Adam Ballenger or Wayne Belles. With this foundation, Kula welcomes many styles of yoga classes and many different teachers who aren't Anusara instructors. Kula is proud to have some of the best Vinyasa and Power yoga instructors from around the valley and welcome instructors to Kula who have been or are part of yoga training courses from other styles of yoga right here in the valley. In other words, Kula has some great instructors. To be honest, Kula shares many great instructors with other great studios and is thankful for those who come to teach at Kula. We think you'll enjoy some awesome yoga instruction of a variety of styles right here at this one studio.

Anusara Yoga. Kula is happy to be a hub for Anusara Yoga in Salt Lake City. Anusara Yoga has some of the most advanced yoga alignment technique you can find. This alignment technique and the philosophy of intrinsic goodness behind it is often highlighted in the teacher training programs at other studios around the valley. Although Kula is the only studio in the valley at this time with Anusara Yoga Training, we warmly embrace the growth of such great teaching into other styles and training's. Anusara Yoga embraces the good while encouraging the refinement of how we hold ourselves, view ourselves and celebrate ourselves. You'll find the encouragement to celebrate every yoga posture while being offered tools and techniques on how to refine your practice even more. The alignment and embodiment you learn in Anusara Yoga is simply outstanding and it is good to see it grow into other studios and communities around Salt Lake City. At Kula, we welcome you to an expansion of your yoga practice using the Anusara style of yoga. Even if you are much more interested in a different rhythm or tempo of practice we still welcome you to refine parts of your yoga practice in the Anusara classes that will enhance your time in your favorite other styles of yoga. If you are interested in participating in the Anusara Yoga Immersion program or Teacher Training Program please contact Adam at Community@KulaStudio.com.

How to get started and where to start. If you are an absolute beginner we recommend the basics, even if you are completely fit and totally athletic. The basics always help yoga be therapeutic and healing, even when you are practicing intensely. Kula has a number of classes that are geared towards the absolute beginners, they are the Intro and the Beginner yoga classes, typically held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. The Friday evening and Saturday morning classes are by donation and we totally encourage you to bring a friend with you. Kula also has a number of other classes that are either gentle in nature or called Level 1 classes. You can find these on the schedule on-line or at the studio. If you are not sure if you should move onto a Level 1 class simply ask your instructor. In the category of the level 1 classes you will begin to see variations of tempo's and styles so those of you looking to step into something more intense or more gentle, you can find the variety on the schedule. Level 1, Up-Tempo Power is going to be much more intense than a Level 1, Mild-Tempo type of class. We have a variety ready for you. If you would like some special assistance you can schedule a yoga private or a series of yoga privates to help you get started before you ever step into the public classes.

We are most concerned with you getting a good start to yoga, good alignment, open mind, heart orientation and a great foundation that will serve you for many years. We encourage classes to be fun but also realize some folks want or need to be more serious about their practice and experience so we encourage a community aspect that respects the variety of intentions and needs in the classroom. Many long term yoga practitioners will tell you that yoga can be about celebrating life and living in beauty, but it is also steeped in discipline and tradition. Because of this we embrace both and consider it to be a discipline of embracing the celebration of a beautifully life. You will find gentle elements of this even in the beginners and introductory yoga classes as we encourage growth and celebration.

Hope to see you at the studio, bring the family or some friends!

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
